As far as i know, Flashlink is MTE with a different name.  One possible
reason for this could be that MTE is bundled with some modems (thus
the manufacturers can advertise their modems as supporting MNP5 even
though they are standard V.22bis modems!)

Yes, i've used the MTE demo and I must say it works well!   As an experiment
I made a file with 250k of 0's and with MNP5 the thing just zipped through
like greased lightning :-)

The MTE demo is available on quite a few BBS's - but its limitation is that
drops carrier after 15 minutes.
