Carroll ) Newsgroups: comp.lang.forth Subject: Basis Document Question Message-ID: Date: 7 Aug 90 02:52:43 GMT Organization: Rutgers Univ., New Brunswick, N.J. Lines: 31 I just received the Basis document that was distributed to the net. Unfortunately, I don't have access to Microsoft Word. But, in a surge of desparate curiosity and insanity, I've sat down, and I'm in the process of muddling through the Works file, converting it into a TeX document so that I can print it. I'm NOT doing a perfect job - I'm sure that I've made many mistakes, particularly in the idea of being unable to distinguish comments from the rest of the text. (It's hard to tell what's what if you don't even know what Works file format is like. I think that I've at least got the italics the same as Word...) Anyway, what I'm wondering is: How would the Basis folks feel about my posting my TeX'ed version, provided I include all Ansi copyrights, and a prominent disclaimer that this is NOT official, and that it is likely to contain slight errors. I think that a lot of folks would really appreciate getting the document in this format, but I don't want to do anything contrary to the will of the Basis committee. Please, do NOT send me email requesting this beast. If I receive permission from the committee, then I will post it. If I don't get permission, then I will not even give the slightest consideration to answering your mail. -- |Mark Craig Carroll: |"We the people want it straight for a change; |Student SysProg - LCSR | cos we the people are getting tired of your games; |Rutgers University | If you insult us with cheap propaganda; |mccarrol@topaz.rutgers.edu| We'll elect a precedent to a state of mind" -Fish
