Trying to send SMTP to a user on an MPE/V host which seems to answer SMTP. The hosts I have tried have included the gateway and local hosts. A typical failure was a user, me, on HPDESK as Everett F BATEY / TSTSTE / 00 by way of the gateway, BLD363.NSWSES.NAVY.MIL .. have been using excaped percent sign separated BATEY\%00\%TSTSTE@BLD363.NSWSES.NAVY.MIL .. I have also per the book, tried shortened names without the local/sublocal addresses and all I ever see is User Unknown when I do sendmail -v to the address .. I have tried all sorts of guesses at how MPE could have the usernames, all to no avail .. Any MPE - WIN/TCP users out there ??? /Ev/ -- + efb@suned1.nswses.Navy.MIL efb@elroy.JPL.Nasa.Gov efb@voodoo.bitnet + + efb@suned1.UUCP | Gold Coast Sun Users | Vta-SB-SLO DECUS | WA6CRE + + Statements, Opinions, MINE, NOT Uncle Sam_s | News Postmaster DNS guy +
