When I added a GVP hard drive to my 500, I tried setting my Supra modem on top of the drive. After all, it seemed like a convenient spot. Apparently the drive's power supply interfered with the modem's tone detector and/or generator. It would only connect about a third of the time, even though the tone sounded fine to my ears. Moving the modem away from any source of power solved the problem (though I do have a digital clock sitting on top of it at the moment). -- -- Alan Bland -- att!druwy!mab == mab@druwy.ATT.COM -- AT&T Bell Laboratories, Denver CO -- (303)538-3510
