After only one day of play, Drakkhen has me stumped.

The problem:
I have cleaned out the Earth Princes castle many times, and have been sent on a
quest "To the East" to sent a message to the Princess.
I have visited a castle in the East, and have been told of a seige, and to warn
the Prince.
No problem, I go and talk to the Prince, and promptly am told that "That was an
Order, vermin!" and get shot by fireballs.

What have I dont wrong?  Have I waited too long to visit the princess, or
should I find her first, then retirn to the Prince?

Another question:
Deep in the Princes castle there is a room with a sewer grate in the center.
When I walk over this, I trip a mechanism of some sort.
What does this do?  I can find no doors that open anywhere.
