You don't need special software to format Mac hardisks. Any software that formats a SCSI hard disk will work. I've got a GS, Ehman 45meg removable cartridge HD and an Apple II High Speed SCSI card. The software that came with the SCSI card (all of it runs under prodos 8) and it formatted and partitioned the Ehman drive with no problems. The Ehman drive is made specifically for the Mac, but since it's a SCSI drive, it works just fine on my II.
