The P:R: will run on the 1200XL no problem if you make a slight modification
to your 1200XL.

The modification is documented in the P:R: connection instruction manual which
comes with the P:R: when you purchase it, so there should be no problems.

Of course, any modification to your computer voids your 90day warranty.  But
does anyone here really need to worry about that any longer?  ;)
