My VT1000 has two meg of memory and occasionally crashes when lots of output is written to a window and it has to scroll fast. I guess its running out of memory. When it crashes it clears the screen and puts up an error message ILLEGAL OPCODE 28 and a number of what look like 32 bit registers. My question is whats the story with this machine is it actually a VAX (opcode 28 is a MOVC3 instruction) if so then what sort of VAX is it ? Would it be theoretically possible to put some larger capacity memory SIMMS in it and an a suitable ROM to allow it to boot VMS and become a single user workstation ?
