I received a few requests to post a summary regarding the availability of
SPITBOL on an Encore Multimax 320 running 4.3 BSD.  So, here it is:

It appears the only company actively porting SPITBOL is Catspaw.  Their mail
address is "cats!support@arizona.edu".  Catspaw said the BSD/System V
distinction was immaterial.  I'll conclude from that statement that once the
port is done to an Encore Multimax, Catspaw will support SPITBOL on BSD,
System V, & Mach.  Catspaw quoted a price of $10,000 to port SPITBOL to the
Encore & estimated it would take two months to port it.  That's about $9,000
more than I can find.  Unless enough sites and/or Encore can chip in enough
money to do the port, then I guess it won't be done.
