There are still lots of uses for the 300 with it's inherent strengths for which the 400 is not well suited. At least one of these is instrument control, which depends on the DIO/I backplane. Others are applications requiring rack-mounted systems like work-cell and imbedded controllers. I'm sure the 300 will be around for a long time.
