For a different opinion:  I was having trouble with my hard drive freezing
up (a Quantum stiction drive with the ROM fix).  Because it always went
down in high humidity at home I took it to work and started the final
backup in the air conditioning. The drive failed in the middle of the
backup. 

When I got the new drive, Fastback II restored everything up to the point
that it had captured before the drive stopped. I was very relieved to
get that much given the nature of the way the program was stopped.
