I used DiskCopy, instead of the Finder, to make a copy and it worked fine.

I had two freezes also. Threw it all in the trash each time. Restarted from
single finder instead of MultiFinder and it sailed completely through
to the end with no problem.

I haven't had much chance to use anything but 'Speed Disk', but I can
comment that this disk defragmenter is fast.

It has modes. Easy, Expert, and Turbo.
I haven't tried 'Easy' mode.  Of course I went straight to 'Expert' mode 8^)

I'm happy with NUM. There were some startup headaches, but the defrag'er
is great, and worth the price by itself. I'll explore the other goodies
later.
