I've played the game, and while I agree with most of what's been said about the order the upstairs stuff should be done, I disagree about the downstairs. In the underground caverns, the first place you want to go (from the grain room) is out, left, then *right*. This gets you to a room with an ogre - he's easy to kill, and has fifty gold. Enough to allow you to rest up a couple nights. (Oh yeah - the inn gets more expensive as you get more experienced.) Then go beyond him to the ratmen - kill the ratmen first (you can choose which monster to attack) so they'll stop summoning giant rats. Then there's an owlbear - he's tough, but he guards a chest with eight gems, three potions, and a special piece of the main puzzle of the game. Hope this helps. It's a fun game. I did all of the first version except the final puzzle (I *still* want to know just how that works... Anyone with hints, please e-mail.) Now that the new version is out (and old characters aren't compatible... grrr...), I guess it's time to work on it for another several days... :) -- Draphsor vo'drun-Aelf draphsor@portia.stanford.edu
