I don't think price is the issue. ResEdit 1.2 can be downloaded from places like CompuServe, and Apple wouldn't allow that if they wanted to make a profit on ResEdit. It's true that APDA sells ResEdit 1.2 for $30, but for the price you also get a manual and sample code for custom pickers and editors.
