Subject: Strange results when rebuilding Desktop

The system:	Macintosh SE, 2.5MB RAM, 20MB hard disk, System 6.0.4

The activity:	Rebuilding the Desktop on the hard disk, by holding down
		Command and Option after the INIT parade ends on startup

The results:	The "Are you sure?" dialog box appears.
		I click on "OK".
		The machine hums for a while...
		A dialog box appears with the universal "stop" icon and
		an "OK" button, but no message.  The box is the same size
		as the "Are you sure?" box, and clicking the "OK" button
		allows me to continue.  I don't know if the desktop is
		successfully rebuilt or not.

Other info:	Disinfectant 2.0 says I'm virus-free.
		There are 700+ files on the disk drive.
		I want to buy a IIfx but can't afford one.

The question:	Does anyone know why this is happening?
