Summary: Compaq 386/20 w N.1 bios + Video 7 VRAM Keywords: VGA Video 7 Compaw ODT Message-ID: <7545@ucdavis.ucdavis.edu> Date: 6 Aug 90 18:21:57 GMT Sender: usenet@ucdavis.ucdavis.edu Reply-To: tuck@iris.ucdavis.edu (Devon Tuck) Organization: Hydrologic Engineering Center, Davis CA Lines: 18 Watch out for this combination: SCO Open Desktop / SCO Unix 3.2 Compaq 386/20 with N.1 (latest) revision Bios Video 7 VRAM VGA card I was assured that this card would work with Open Desktop, but apparently when we upgraded our Compaq 386, 20 mhz system with the latest revision bios chips (which is the only way we can use a 110 Meg hard drive) we lost the ability to boot (much less run) the package with the Video 7 VRAM VGA card. If I swap VGA boards, or I swap chips, the system works. Solution, we must return our Video 7 card and buy something else, probably a Paradise VGA card with 512k. Devon Tuck tuck@iris.ucdavis.edu
