Message-ID: <1076@umt.UUCP> Date: 12 Aug 90 04:38:27 GMT Organization: University of Montana CIS - Missoula, MT Lines: 17 Hi, We've recently upgraded our Interactive Unix, TCP/IP and NFS to the latest version (2.2) and are running MOTIF. I'm doing graphics work in X and have been running into an error message frequently. The message is PROBLEM WITH PTR PACKET - OVERFLOW. I only get this error when I'm in X and when it occurs it'll usually slow down the performance in X and may sometimes not respond to any mouse events at all. I had called Interactive about it and they suggested increasing the NSTREAM and NQUEUE kernel parameters. I increased those to the maximum values permissible and the error still occurs. Any ideas ? In an unrelated event, I had increased my system's RAM from 8M to 10M and there's still no significant improvement in the speed of MOTIF and related stuff. I have a 386/20 and the abovementioned operating system. I re-configured the kernel parameters, namely the NBUF, NHBUF but that didn't help the speed at all. Any recommendations as to increasing the speed of my X windows (MOTIF) ? Thank you for any help you may offer.
