Bill, Although I havn't looked at it for a while, I doubt seriously that MindReader has changed much in ways that would make it more speech friendly than it was when it was first released and I looked at it, and that wasn't friendly at all! MindReader is one of those artificial intelligence word processors that tries to help the poor typist by guessing words before you are finished typing them. That is, it has a dictionary of entries that it looks into as you type letters and after you have entered so many a window will pop up with likely guesses as to the word you are typing, and to save the time of typing in the remainder, you can select from these and have the program finish your typing it for you! I never considered myself a good typist, but boy, I sure am better than needing this sort of thing! I can see how it would be great for someone who has limited use of their hands, or even for someone who is an extremely slow typist, but for most of us I think it would be more of a hindrance than a benefit. So far as its compatibility with speech goes, I didn't really try that hard to set up for it because of the reasons above, but so far as I could tell it would be very difficult to come up with a usable configuration. Maybe, just maybe, MindReader could be a worthwhile word processor for someone not too good with a keyboard but who has fully functioning peepers, but I don't think it is worth a darn for the rest of us!
