you must set windows to make the different boxes talk.
but awhile you are setting up the program, you can set a window to read 
the hole screen.  after you make a selection like, d for the length of 
time which you want the alarm to sound, then, you can use ctrl l, to 
tell you what the current setting is, as well as what you have set the 
new setting to.
as far as using the program online, once you have made all the settings, 
it works well with incoming messages and prompts scrolling up the 
screen.
