Like it or not the IBM-PC has become the lowest common denominator in the engineering tools arena. If you want to get your latest tool into the maximum number of machines then you start with the PC version. The problem is that after you do that then the number of incremental sales you will generate from expanding into other platforms is somewhat small. AMD is in the chip business and uses PALASM as a means to sell IC's. They do not position it to compete with the ABEL's or CUPL's of the world and probably never will. I perfer to see them use their resources to do a good job maintaining and upgrading the PC version rather than trying to export it to YA workstation.
