I've read a lot of superficial overviews of what virtual reality will be, but nothing in depth. Could someone please tell me: 1) Are they any books on VR which are must-reads? (I dont' mean sci-fi books, actual scientific studies or predictions.) 2) Are there any journals yet devoted to VR? 3) What companies/universities/research institutes are doing work on VR? 4) What software or hardware is standard or much-used in virtual reality stereoscopic man-machine interfaces, or any other VR application? (This may be a bad question - if I knew more I'd try to be more specific.) 5) Are there any conferences for the VR industry ? These may be basic questions, but I need to start somewhere.
