I was introduced to a good working definition. If you answer yes to all three questions, you can consider yourself a feminist. 1. You believe that women have gotten the shaft for a long time. 2. You think this is wrong/unfair. 3. In some way (in your mind, your family, your community) you are making changes to correct the unfair situation. I make the additional stipulation to myself that only the person can answer these questions. I may have my own opinion as to whether I think another person is a feminist or not, but they name themselves, I don't.
