(I forget the exact title of the organization, but it parallels
the Arab League) The Islamic Conference has condemned the 
Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

Concerning the religious implications:  The ideals of the
Iraqi Baath Socialist Party are an anathema to Islam.  Iraq
has closed down many Islamic schools in Iraq and persecuted
many Islamic religious leaders.
