BBC AS A TERMINAL FOR A VAX

I am having problems with my BBC Master use a terminal via a modem into a VAX
machine on this network. The machine operates in a limited form, for example I
am not able to scan the network. I can however read messages but not the menu.
Are ther an BBC users out there who could advise. I am using the Comstar
communications software.
