Does anyone know of any general user groups for computer graphics?
I'm not thinking so much of loose associations of customers bound to
particular products or kinds of equipment or software as of computer
club-like organizations of sophisticated users/amateur+ programmers
that may be far-flung geographically.  Are there any?

I'd be especially interested in any groups catering to people from,
or with a strong interest in, the visual arts: illustration, graphics, 
animation, advertising, computer art, etc.  

I read the net irregularly these days, so I'd appreciate it if people
replied via e-mail as well as through postings.
