Two people on the net I've heard from have both had problems with playing PAL digital sound discs on this player. One of them had even sent the player back to Sony and been charged over US$300 to look at the "problem". The bottom line appears to be that this catches people out badly. The only players that will be able to play all discs, NTSC or PAL are two domestic models. The Pioneer CLD1450 (only available in the UK) and the Sony MDP515 (only available in West Germany) can play all LDs and all CDs. I would guess that Voyager's adapter for Pioneer SR remote connectors should be able to allow a computer to command the CLD1450. Meantime, beware the Sony LDP3600! It will not play normal PAL discs, only specially mastered, custom Interactive Video PAL LaserDiscs. I hope Sony come to their senses in the near future, and make a multi- standard industrial player that will play normal PAL discs.
