Sorry for the double distribution, but my question applies to e-mail
as well as news.

Is it possible to create a short alias for a long mail address?  I'm
looking for something like this:

john is actually equal to "john_edward_doe"@host1.host2.host3.domain

This information should be accessible by "mail" and "rn".  In case it
makes a difference, I use the emacs editor but not emacs' rmail
function.

Please reply by e-mail.  I'll post a summary if there is enough
interest.  Thanks.
