Is there a reason to engage in some more formal MMM pre-standards activities, such as preceded X.400, X.500 and NetworkManagement. I ask because IFIP WG 6.5 stands ready and will to commission an active workgroup in this area, with the objective of feeding the results to CCITT/ISO/IEC at some future date, as happened with X.400 and X.500 and NM. Although timing is not critical in establishment of such an IFIP WG 6.5 subgroup on MMM, there will be an IFIP TC6 (WG 6.5) sponsored Symposium on MHS and Application Layer Communication Protocols in Zurich on Oct 3-5, 1990. Some workshops will be held as part of the symposium, and if a group emerges there to begin active work, we will be prepared to support it with WG 6.5 recognition, which means that the output can be given official standing before the CCITT/ISO/IEC, when the work is done. The WG 6.5 business meeting will be held on the last afternoon (Oct 5). I am saying all this as the IFIP WG 6.5 North American Vice Chair...\Stef
