You can get a copy of the standard from the IEEE. Call 
 1-800-CS-BOOKS with you Visa/MC and as for IEEE Std 1003.1-1988.

I have a book coming out in September.  I will be published by
O'Reilly & Associates.  Call them and ask to be notified when
it becomes available.  I believe it will be called "POSIX in a 
Nutshell" or something like that.  O'Reilly is at
