This was sooooo weird. I didn't look in the code but I know it's in there some where type of thing happend. As many of you know the font.dir file in your fonts directory (mine is /usr/lib/X11/fonts/MIT) contains a listing of the fonts in the directory followed by the "font alias". guess what. when I installed the fonts the alias looked like /site/chris/blah blah/standard.onx.bdf..... I had the sinking feeling that this was not how the font should be aliased!!!! so I opened up the bdf files and right there next to the keyword FONT was you guessed it /site/chris/blah blah/standard.onx.bdf changing this to standard (or standard.snf) really helped. when I then installed the font, mkfontdir, and xset rehash I was able to get xfd to display the font. (if you name it standard, and xconq you need to put that in your .Xdefaults The program calls them by standard.snf,xconq.snf I think) Any way this solved all my font problems now if I can just get rid of the couldn't set color ..... color is 32xxxx xxxx 1 ...... 54xxxx xxxx 1 Games GAMES ------------------------------------------------------------ A game a day helps keep boredom away ------------------------------------------------------------
