Lines: 24 I have an IBM PS/2 mod 60-041. This has a 44 meg mfm drive. I need more disk space. Another IBM HD is very expensive. Compatible drives by other companies like CMI are also some what expensive for such a small slow drive. I would like to get a faster ESDI or SCSI drive. I guess I could get an ESDI controller like used in the mod 60-071, but I think something from Adaptec or Western Digital, stc might give better value. Can anyone help me with the following? Has anyone used a controller other than IBM's in a mod 60? Whose and how did it work? Since the mod 60 uses software to setup the configuration, how could I get the computer to recognize a non-IBM controller and disk drive which did not have the IBM fingerprint or identifing information builtin? I would like to get a HD disk of about 200 megs and 16 - 24 ms access time. and a tranfer rate of 10 or 15 which is most economical and reliable. Any suggestions of solutions that have been used successfully by others would be appreciated. Could I get an IBM ESDI adapter and use some disk drive other than the IBM 71 Mb. drive? -- cjp@beartrk.beartrack.com
