It seems to me that there are a couple of very important things missing from kermit and all of the other terminal emulators that I have used. They are: o A 43 line mode. o Smooth scrolling. If anyone knows of a terminal emulator that has either of these features, please let me know. It works FINE! 80x43, 132x24, 132x27, 132x36, 132x44, 80x60, 80x66, 110x54, etc, etc, etc. The trick is to already be in the video mode when you enter KERMIT. It will correctly deduce the screen size from your BIOS areas. Also, KERMIT can use your ANSI driver for support. If you use an ANSI driver like NNANSI, NANSI, or ZANSI, then you can change screen sizes (at least the common screen sizes of 80x24, EGA 80x43, and VGA 80x60) via escape sequences sent to the screen (ANSI code extensions I beleive, and the different drivers might support different codes). Personally, I use NNANSI on my EEGA (up to 800x600) and have no problems using KERMIT in odd screen sizes. The software I use on the remote site is very happy to deal with the large screens too (like PR1ME EMACS, and the PR1ME command line editor). ============================================================================ Kevin J.
