Earlier on this evening I was working on my trusty SE/30 using a
number of applications under multifinder.  Two of the applications had
at least 4 open files each and the other three would have had a couple
each as well e.g. word 4 was editing two documents and word finder was
lurking in the background.

One of the applications gave me a polite little message saying that
too many files were open and I guess this was the case.  The other
applications seemed to agree as well.

My questions:
 
* what is the default number of files which can be open under m/f
* how do I increase this if I need to?  I'm not a hacker but can
  simple instructions ;-)

System 6.0.4   Finder 6.1.4   SE/30
