It seems that it was the power supply: I looked at the voltages from the various lines & they were only marginally related to what they should be. I've replaced it with one from a sleeping machine and it now seems much happier. Obviously PSUs will wear out, especially since ours are ageing. Does anyone know where they can be obtained? If the crunch comes can I go to Xerox and buy one? As an aside: I don't know if any of the relevant people read this list, but I would be *extremely* interested in the version of Medley under X! --tim
