One font was created by Fontographer (the file creation date is sometime in 1987) and is a Type 3 font (no font metrics file). The other (as a test) is Adobe's Minion-Regular font (downloadable file, AFM and screen fonts.) I downloaded all relevant files as binaries using Kermit 0.90 on the Mac. I then ftp'd to another machine (though I didn't set the file type to binary, I'll go back and try this). I then attempted to use FrameMakers fmScreen2mfonts program to convert the screen fonts. The program bombed, resulting in a segmentation fault and a core dump. Examining the core dump showed the following errors: Too many font names in resource file. Warning: Unable to find a font name. Unknown Font. So now what? Thanks, Steve Graham graham@isis.ee.washington.edu
