If the following have been asked before, I apologize. I. Is there a way to allow the LaTeX tabbing environment to accept more \='s before screaming tab overflow? (I have a computer-generated and ergo inscrutable tabbing environment, so I wouldn't want to mess with it manually to remove possible excess tabs.) II. Most modes in La/TeX convert some canonical 2-or-more character sequences (not beginning with \) into "ligatures": ff, fi, fl, ffi, ffl, --, ---. The question is: How can I create ligatures of my own? The FM tantalizingly says that "such changes aren't extremely difficult" and but doesn't expand. III. Thanks \in advance. --d
