It doesn't matter whether it is done by using \special{landscape} or if the filter needs an option on the command line. I am currently using dvips version 0.92. I have also looked at dvialw and dvi2ps. None of these has this support (dvips claims that it does, but it doesn't seem to actually output pages in landscape mode). We are running the equivalent of SunOS 4.0.3 on a Solbourne, printing to an IBM laser printer with PostScript option. Please email me and I will post the results if there is interest.
