We have a large DECNET base here and can use finger on a VMS machine to see if anyone is logged in on another VMS machine. If we try to do this to an ultrix node, we get an error. Likewise, we would like to be able to "finger someone on a VMS node from an ultrix machine. The best would be to have a generic "decfinger and decfingerd" that would run on any unix box. Please reply to me personally if such a beast exists. If enough interest is noted (e.g. > 20 people), I will post the source for it on this newsgroup.
