I'm trying to figure the "Windows style" to do the following: I've got a checkbook register laid out on the screen in a list box. I'd like clicking on a row to select the row (i.e. such that hitting the delete key would delete that row, or Insert would insert a new row after the selected one). However, I'd like to be able to click on a column, and then put up an I-beam cursor to permit the user to edit the selected column. This means that clicking on the first column in a row could mean "select the row" or it could mean "put the I-beam cursor in the ffirst column for editing." What is the appropriate behavior in cases like this? -- Kevin Kleinfelter @ Dun and Bradstreet Software, Inc (404) 239-2347 {emory,gatech}!nanovx!msa3b!kevin "Don't hold your finger on the button if the motor ain't goin' roundy-roundy."
