However, if you want to be able to run programs that break all of DOS' restrictions and work in an updated and powerful environment then you should buy Windows. You are treating Windows as a DOS shell, which it is not because it provides many features that DOS does not have. So I think that you have missed the entire point of Windows. If you really want to evaluate Windows, then go out and buy Windows equivelants of all your DOS programs instead of just using Windows to run DOS programs. You are crippling Windows. We use 286 machines with 2 megs of RAM and run all-Windows programs and have none of the problems you mentioned.
