My father happened to have an old Turbo XT (10 MHz) with 20 MB hard disk and CGA. Just for kick, I installed and tested Windows 3.0 on that machine. And as far as I can tell, Windows 3.0 DOES WORK in the old XT with an almost decent performance ! Of course I didn't expect it to do what a 386 machine can do. But I can run the accessories (never tested any real program, not enough disk space to install any :-)). Fire up a full screen DOS window. I can only use a 320 x 200 bitmap as the wall paper. I even managed to play Solitaire reasonably. The 10 MHz 8088 is inherently slow. I'm amazed that Windows 3.0 didn't slow it down much further :-). Regards, ## Life is fast enough as it is ........
