Basically, if your monitor can support it, then ATI's drivers will
allow your VGA Wonder card to do 800x600x16, or 1024x768x16.  (The VGA
driver supplied with Windows does 640x480x16).  ATI says that they are
'working' on the 256 color drivers, but no release date as yet.
