If a person who hasn't read news (we have rn) in a while logs on, they find that their .newsrc is "out-of-phase" with the active file, so when they go to a group that has had articles expired, rn says something like "can't read that article" and then does a "catch up", thereby marking the unread articles as "read". Is there a way to get the two files in sync, or perhaps change rn so that it simply reads what's there? Thanks, Pete -- Prof. Peter J.
