Have you ever used a scripting language for telnet that resembles the 
kind of capability that you get using something like procomm, kermit,
bitcom and a modem?

I would like to use telnet to go over the ethernet to reach a modem.  
Once there, I would like to be able to use the modem effectively, waiting
for certain character strings to appear, then sending the appropriate 
response.  If you know of something like this, and could send even
the smallest hint to me, I would be greatful.
