An interesting addedum about emacs not being able to open files in a
subdiectory....  emacs CAN open files while I log in through a tty port on the
Apollo.  But if I am running under X at the workstation (actually 10.2 PSK with
xdm instead of XApollo daemon) I get the problem of emacs looking only at the
home directory.
