There's a section of the TIFF file that specifies which direction the gray scale goes, and it looks like WP is assuming one direction while AppleScan writes another. One simple way of fixing it would be to find a program that can read the file correctly and then write it back out so that a WP reads it correctly; you'll need to experiment with the software you have access to.
