As I've tried to point out before, this is important not only for non-Roman writing systems, but for some Roman fonts as well. * A string of text shouldn't need to contain different codes to represent different contextual forms of the same character. Instead, this should be resolved at the time the text is drawn. This keeps things simple for the application. * Is there a Level II PostScript function for drawing a *part* of a string *in context*? That is, you give it a string, but indicate that you only want a part of it drawn. The reason for passing the whole string is so that the drawing code can decide on the correct contextual forms to use. The reason for only wanting to draw part of the string is interactive WYSIWYG editing: this lets you redraw only the part of the text that has changed (saves time and avoids flicker), while displaying the correct contextual forms at all times.
