What's the source of this $1000 story?  I've heard it before, but I've
never been able to make sense of it.

Current market price for Adobe's PostScript add-on cartridge for the
LaserJet II is $300--and that's a physical gadget, not just a license.
Seems like a pretty good buy to me.
