I've had the SAME problems installing OS/2 1._2_.
I've used both the IBM OS/2 1.2SE and Microsoft's 1.21 OEM version
on an ALR 25386DT machine with a 120M drive, 4M ram, and the
ATI VGAwonder card.

The actual contents of the error screen (most of the time) are:

The system detected an interrupt that cannot be masked.

I've occasionally had a trap C at location 0220:3397, and 
once or twice a line "Exception in device driver:OEMHLP$".

If anyone has a solution for these problems, please post/mail.
