Message-ID: <5824@castle.ed.ac.uk> Date: 20 Aug 90 17:08:07 GMT Sender: tkld@castle.ed.ac.uk Organization: EPCC, Edinburgh University Lines: 13 I've just got myself an external drive for my 1040STFM (a Kempston Daatadisk - dunno what mechanism is inside the case - but it''s small, fast and does 90 tracks :-) I wasn't impressed with Kempston's new marketing arm "Pandaal Marketing" though - it took them nearly 2 months to send me the drive) The problem (is it, maybe it isn't, but it's annoying) is that every time I use drive b: , my internal drive a: starts spinning (but the light doesn't come on). The only cure seems to be removing any disk from drive a: There is no problem reading data, but my internal drive is *so much louder* than the new drive. Is this common ? Is it software, hardware, me ? Can it be fixed ?
